The Blessings of The Dump Ground

The good news about having stayed overnight at The Dump Ground is that there was absolutely no reason to tarry the morning away and absolutely EVERY reason to get the heck out of there. So we all jumped up early and were on the road by 7:30 AM heading westward back toward the Grand Teton National Park. We didn’t even bother having breakfast, figuring that we’d find a pretty spot to park and have some cereal. We arrived at the Park by 8:00 AM and, with the sun still rising behind us from the east, were treated to an early morning view of the Teton Mountain Range reflecting in the calm, crystal clear, blue glass-like surface of Jackson Lake.

Sensational. Gorgeous. Inspirational. Better than anything we saw in Yellowstone the day before. Much better view than if we had seen it several hours later had there been any reason to diddled around our campground. We truly were blessed to have stayed at the Dump.

After stopping for a short picture taking stint, we continued on a bit to the south and found ourselves at Signal Mountain Lodge…no cereal for us! Instead, we treated ourselves to breakfast at the Lodge overlooking Jackson Lake…a second blessing delivered by The Dump!

Having finished our very yummy breakfast at the Lodge, we rejoined Daisy in the Cozy Den and headed further south to Jenny Lake. We stopped there and took a very leisurely half hour walk along the south shore on a trail which surrounds the lake. Had we had more time we would have continued on to the Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point, but once again time and the promise of future fun caused us to stop, turn around and return to Daisy and our rolling Cozy Den.

Once reunited with our darling Daisy, we left Grand Teton, our fourth National Park, and zoomed our way to the north east corner of Utah to the Bear Lake area…our next home for the night.

The final blessing of The Dump was that our early departure from there enabled us to arrive in northern Utah—and the location where I had been able to arrange a trail ride—by around 4:00 PM

More about the ride from Nadya.
